in the National Street Gazetteer for England and Wales


This search tool lets you find and zoom in on streets in England and Wales. The street you’re looking for is highlighted in red.

Search by street name or description

Every street in the NSG is either ‘officially named’, through the Street Naming and Numbering process, or ‘officially described’.

Choose the local highway authority that’s responsible for the area you’re interested in. Then type in part of the name or description of the street you’re looking for.

Search by USRN

The Unique Street Reference number (USRN) is a unique identifier (maximum 8 characters) assigned to each Street. This number is allocated by the local highway authority.
