Showing the National Street Gazetteer for England and Wales

Local Highway Authorities are required by law to create and maintain a database of all the streets in their area. Data from England and Wales is brought together into a single National Street Gazetteer (NSG), which amongst other things is used by local highway authorities and utility companies to plan and coordinate street works.

Findmystreet.co.uk shows every street that’s held in the NSG. It will tell you where a street is, what its official name is, and the maintenance responsibility of that street.

With findmystreet.co.uk, you can find every street that’s recorded in the NSG. It may also help you to find out which streets aren’t.

If you have a question regarding the data or have identified a missing street you will need to contact your local highways authority. Go to Missing Streets to find out how.

This leaflet explains more about FindMyStreet.
